Slick Rick in LE Bronx: Redbull tour
Peace to the world! It's sunny over here and we are on our way to take the "Back In The Days Airlines"... We are going back to september 2011. Redbull organized a New York tour "Five Out Of Five", a rapper or crew were supposed to represent their borough. Mob Deep for the Queens, Slick Rick for the Bronx, Dipset for Manhattan (Harlem), Black Moon for Brooklyn and Wu Tang Clan for Staten Island.Let's focus on Slick Rick's show.. I came to "Le Bronx" with my friend from Atlanta. The show was at Loews Paradise Theatre (I saw Dru Hill and Faith Evans at the theatre in 2010).FunkMaster Flex was invited to mix (of course) but especially to talk about Hip Hop in " Bx" (Bronx). He explained that Hip Hop culture was born there, how it was the biggest phenomenom that he never saw and lived, how Hip Hop influenced and changed lives, how it started and helped people. He gave some example of life situations... He talked about Hot 97 too, his involvement in Hip Hop, people he met...I let you imagine in which state of mind I was, listening such an important person like him for our Hip Hop community. I couldn't help myself taking a picture with him ;)Then, DJ D-Nice came on the stage to give his point of view of Hip Hop, how he discovered it. He also gave us a wonderful set of old school rap! After those artists have performed, we had a break. Time for us to chat about what we heard, to dance, to enjoy this moment and feel the real Hip Hop vibe. Despite the good music, we couldn't wait to see Slick Rick and our prayers were heard because we saw him going down from the stairs and comming on the stage. You guys would have seen the crowd excitement!Slick Rick interpreted, with a live band, his first album: "The Great Adventures of Slick Rick" in particular: Mona Lisa, Treat her like a prostitute and Children story...
We ended with a huge ovation for Slick Rick and a "chicken gyro" in a store close to the theatre ;) Comming soon.. Wu Tang Clan in Staten Island :) Peace n kiss, Lya Pouleyy
